• Our Mission: Great Art and Great Community

Our Vision

Colorado Repertory Singers strives towards artistic excellence and authentic community without sacrificing one in pursuit of the other. Singers are expected to actively engage in the range of musical, emotional, and human processes that are present in a collaborative ensemble experience with the belief that music can be both an end and a means. This invitation is to do more than put great sound into the air but to be open to the power music has to change ourselves and those around us. To this end, singers are challenged to continual growth in areas that support and enable these transformative processes including musical skill, emotional intelligence, self-reflection, and cultural awareness.

We share our discoveries through concert experiences that are crafted to unleash the power music has to illuminate, challenge and heal us all. Through song and word, we hope awareness and empathy will rise as we imagine together a world that is more connected, compassionate, and whole.

Our Values

Artistic Excellence

  • We produce high-caliber concerts, offering powerful music in the hope we can create awareness, empathy, and healing that radiates far beyond our membership.

  • We explore choral music deeply, layering it into our lives and accepting the tension and dissatisfaction that comes with reaching for excellence.

Engagement

  • We expect our members to meaningfully contribute to the artistry, community, and growth of our organization.

  • We recognize that CRS is primarily a volunteer endeavor, but we ask that our members prioritize attendance, participation, and preparedness for the health of the ensemble as a whole.

Lifelong Singing

  • We challenge our members to improve their musical skill for the continued advancement of our choral sound.

  • We prioritize creating mountaintop experiences for our members and for young singers in our community in the hope that they never stop singing.

Sustainable Growth

  • We endeavor to transform artistic dreams into realities, pursue new challenges, and expand our impact within the world of choral music.

  • We mindfully balance our desires for programmatic growth with financial stability and organizational capacity.

Genuine Connection

  • We actively foster a strong community where members can forge genuine connections with our music and to fellow music makers.

  • With humility, we vigorously study our repertoire to ensure we understand the poetry, the history, the context, and the culture that formed it.

Openness

  • We expect our singers to lean into the musical, emotional, and human processes that set CRS apart from other choral organizations.

  • We cultivate an environment where singers can and must be vulnerable, self-reflective, and culturally aware to create the level of community we strive for.

Equity

  • We pursue and celebrate diversity in our membership, our venues, our audiences, and our repertoire to affirm communities and individuals that have historically been overlooked in choral music.

  • We strive to eliminate barriers of access for both members and audiences.

Belonging

  • We believe choir is a unifying activity that incites joy, curiosity, and reflection.

  • We invite members to bring their authentic selves to the rehearsal room and stage and feel they truly belong in CRS.
