His spiritual explorations led him to Naropa University in Boulder where he earned an MA in Indo-Tibetan Buddhist Studies. He loves to ride his bike in the mountains and spend time with his dogs.
Madeline Gardner
Associate Director
Madeline Gardner, a choral conductor, educator, and singer, is rooted in the Colorado music community. Starting with the Colorado Children's Chorale in 2002, her love of singing flourished, leading her to formal voice study at age 12 with Iris Reyes, and eventually to the University of Colorado Boulder, where she trained with Julie Simson and Jennifer Bird-Arvidsson and earned a Bachelor of Music Education. She later completed a Master of Education in Human Resource Studies from Colorado State University.
Professionally, she has served as Chancel Choir Director at Westminster United Methodist Church from 2014 to 2017, Director of Choirs at Prairie View High School from 2015 to 2022, and is now in her fifth season with CRS.
For Madeline, performing is her most natural mode of music-making — the place where years of training converge. She has sung with many ensembles in the greater Denver area, including the Eklund Opera Program, Boulder Bach Festival Chorale and Chamber Choir, Elus Vocal Ensemble, The Evans Choir, and Kantorei.
Whether on the podium or on the stage, the connective and healing nature of singing with others remains at the heart of her work and life. She lives in Aurora with her husband, who is also a musician, and they share a deep appreciation for the arts, including film, video games, and, especially, music.
