Songs from Stage & Screen

We live in a world of intersecting cultures and there is no better example of this reality than the stories that captivate and entertain us through our TVs, at the movies and in the theatre. From the dialogues to the sets to the costumes, it’s all culture! We are excited to explore this intersectionality through the music that has been weaving its way through the stories and shows we love to watch. This not only includes pop songs and Broadway tunes, but also classical, jazz and folk music. Far more than whimsical melodies, many of these tunes have engrained themselves in our daily lives in meaningful ways because they come from and represent our cultures. They are the songs we listen to and sing that help us endure, heal, love, reconcile and mourn and maybe, just maybe, if we can lean into these realities we can stir more connection and empathy in our neighborhoods, schools and workplaces.
